More slavery in Jordan

The New York Times reports on what we all probably had a feeling about already--the abuse of foreign workers in Jordan's Free Trade Zones (source).

Check this one out soon (and weep) before they archive it.

this may be one of those "good" things in disguise. maybe it will push the government to put all these people on a boat back home and force unemployed jordanians to do the work instead!

Great, we started with abusing maids and now moved to international workers, it is something that makes us proud!

I absolutely agree with NAS, let these people go back home where they are apprecaited, since it would be way too much work to get Jordanians to appreciate them, and let's get off our asses and stop being so afraid of the menial jobs, and of getting our hands dirty. We have thousands upon thousands of Egyptians and Syrians doing our work for us, while we complain of unemployment. If we're not at a job where we get to push the underdog around, we're just not HAPPY enough. This sucks. This article made me MAD. Can't beleive this. ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

edward, three reasons...1) globalization 2) a person from bangladesh will work for even cheaper than a local if you can believe that and 3) they're easier to abuse.

this isn't the government by the way, these are people running businesses.
